May 16, 2009 | It was a gloomy day with overcast skies, but in no way did it diminish the emotion of struggle to emerge from the earth conveyed by the sculpture "The Awakening" created by J. Seward Johnson, Jr. A lack of good light did present some challenges in my attempts to capture the sculpture using just a point and shoot camera. And even though I took pictures that show the sculpture in its entirety, I feel this particular frame does the most justice, especially since the other frames had visitors and their kids playing on the sculpture and also inside its open mouth.
